Face-to-face voice translator on a single phone
A hotel receptionist in Tokyo, a pharmacist in Lisbon, a driver in Istanbul: the person is right in front of you and you share no language. Put your phone between you: you take turns speaking, and Déblo Duo translates out loud.
Try it on deblo.ai/duoThe other person installs nothing, creates no account and pays nothing.
The problem: speak, wait, hand over the screen
Usual translator apps make you type or speak, then turn the phone around so the other person can read. You pass the device back and forth, wait, start again. That's fine for asking directions; for describing symptoms or discussing a price, the conversation falls apart.
How it works, in three steps
-
Pick the two languages
In the Déblo Duo app or on deblo.ai/duo, choose "One phone". The screen splits in two: the top half, upside down, belongs to the person facing you, who reads their instructions in their own language.
-
Hold your half to speak
Only one person speaks at a time: whoever is holding their half of the screen. So the phone never hears both voices at once.
-
The translation plays on the speaker
The other person hears it in their language, then answers the same way. If they prefer their own phone, they scan a QR code and join from their browser, with nothing to install.
A real-world example
At a clinic front desk in Madrid, a Korean traveler describes his symptoms in Korean; the nurse hears them in Spanish and answers in Spanish, which he hears in Korean. Nobody passes the phone around, nobody reads over anyone’s shoulder.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need two phones?
No. One is enough: you take turns on the same screen. If the person facing you prefers their own phone, they scan a QR code and join from their browser.
Why hold the screen to speak?
So that only one voice is translated at a time. Otherwise the phone would hear both people and mix up the sentences.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes: a free trial, right on deblo.ai/duo, no account needed.
Where is it most useful?
Anywhere people from elsewhere are welcomed: hotels, clinics and pharmacies, shops, taxis, airports, public offices, apartment viewings.
